Reflection on training.....

Dear shuttler-trainees,

You have attended 6 sessions of training so far. Do you think you have shown improvement? What were the few important skills you have picked up so far? Do you find training tough? Which are the areas that you need to work on further? How else can you improve your skills?

Please post your comments based on the above questions, as well as any thoughts you have regarding the training thus far.

  1. Firstly i am very sorry i couldn’t come for the last session. I had sprained my leg , i would have come but my parents wouldn’t allow.
I think i have shown a little improvement not much unfortunately my reflexes have become a bit better and i am able to lob much better.
The training is a bit tough since in primary school they used to keep it easy but i think all of us can take a lot more
I think i can improve my skills by practicing a bit more and maybe try to become more fit.

  2. I feel that I have not shown much improvement as I feel that the training is not tough. We have been doing mainly basics which is quite easy. I feel that I need more training for strokes like lobbing and others, because most of the time, when we did lobbing, we have to lob with friends and not the coach. I would prefer lobbing and training other strokes with the coach as he is tougher and harder to play with. I think I will need to work on my stamina because I get tired easily espically at the end of the training when running through the courts. I also need more training on the strokes like smash, lift, net and others. I will try and improve and when I have free time, I will just take out my racket and practice swinging.

  3. There is definitely improvement for me, as I was not coached professionally before and the training being tough is so far alright with me. I believe i need more practice with lobbing and footwork. My reflexes and hand-eye coordination has improved, and my stamina has increased considerably, since I hardly exercised during the first term. I will try practicing with my other friends when i have time as they have been trained before.

  4. It seems that I have only picked up the way to hold onto a badminton racket and I have deproved quite heavily. I wish not to complain. The training is not tough as the concentrated toughness is all just put at the end of the lesson. Which is useless as running is not really a key importance as it does not train up our stamina. Neither does a horse stance. I can improve my skills only by adapting to the changes (that have an impact on me).

  5. Do you think you have shown improvement?
I think I did not shown much improvement as I think that the training is not tough.
What were the few important skills you have picked up so far?
I did not picked up the few important skills as I have learnt the few important skills before. We have been learning the basic skills and how to hold our rackets properly.
    Do you find training tough?
I do not find the training tough.
Which are the areas that you need to work on further?
I find that I need to further work on my netting, lifting, etc but most importantly, my smashing and my stamina as I find that my smashes are not strong enough and I could not run fast in the court.
How else can you improve your skills?
I can improve on my skills by having tougher training with the coach and lobbing with him as I think that he is better to lob with. I can also run more so I can improve on my stamina.

  6. I feel that I have not shown much improvement. I don't think I have learnt much as I cant remember. O.O The training is not tough but the exercises are like that horse thing. I think I could improve my stamina as I don't last long on the court and my speed. I also don't have fast reactions to run after the shuttlecock. I can increase my stamina by playing longer hours. I can improve my skills by practicing more of it at home as there is not enough time in school.

  7. For the past training sessions, I found that i have made improvement after each training and i picked up skills like lobbing and drop balls, and the basic footwork. I find the training quite fun as training with school mates and helping each other is very enjoyable. It was quite tough but i think it was worth it. On the areas that need improvement, I can say that i need much more work on my footwork and lobbing, and i need to use a bit more strength. I can practice at home, the basics and reminding myself on the areas that i am weak at and try to improve and work on it.

well, the training was great and i look forward to term 2! :D GAMBATTLE SST BADMINTON! :D

  8. I felt that I have improved. The training was tough, but without tough training we would not be able to improve. I feel that my movement is too stiff and i will need to relax more. In order to improve more, i can practice at home, come early for practice and ask coach for help.

Well, I look forward to Training :D

I think my shots have improved so far, but not that much. Especially, my lobbing, its going further and straighter a little more then before. I think the training is tough but even though the training is already tough for me, i still think that I handle more so that i could catch up with everyone first, before the 4 strong people who is always by the side training. I can improve on my body movements and my stamina as these are the skills that i lack. Despite that, I think I can do better and i believe I can increase the skills that I lack soon. Another way i can improve my skills is by training almost everyday, by maybe doing push-ups and sit-ups continuously or maybe a long run around the free space outside of my house. So far, I believe that the team we have now will be improved into a stronger and much more better team in future.

  13. I think in overall after completing 6 sessions of training, i think i have improved a lot as i have no background of badminton training before. I have improved on the basic techniques of badminton example correct griping and body coordination.I have also improved a lot in my lobbing as weeks past by. I have pick up skills such as correct hand grip, basic movement, lobbing, swinging the racket, back-hand and fore-hand grip etc. I think i need to improve more on my hand grip and also lobbing. I need to improve them as my hand grip is not perfectly correct and without the correct hand grip you cannot play. The coach also say that my arm is too stiff and i should relax. I think training is quite tough but i think it will paid off really well when we enter for competition. What we learnt must take it seriously and we must also learn from mistakes.

I really looking forward to a new term of training which is fun and enjoyable :D
